When you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that specific service provider. On their end, three records are created automatically the moment the Internet domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain address where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they indicate the server that handles the e-mails for that specific Internet domain. The site and the email hosting are often considered to be one thing, while they're actually two different services. Having separate records for them will allow you to have them with different companies if you want. As an example, some new service provider might have outstanding uptime for your site, but you may not want to switch your emails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the Internet domain to the former and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you can get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you wish to open a website or send an email - in any case, the provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you're going to see the needed website or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Web Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every Linux cloud web hosting package which we offer, will allow you to view, modify and create A and MX records for each domain or subdomain within your account. From the DNS Records section, you will be able to see a list of all hosts inside the account from a to z with their corresponding records, so any update will not take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Creating new records is just as easy if, as an example, you want to use the e-mail services of a different provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2. You may also set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it's going to contact the next one. Using our sophisticated tool, you are going to be able to control the records of your domains and subdomains with ease even though you may have no prior experience with such matters.

If you have to set up a new record, it'll be just as simple - pick the domain/subdomain, type in the IP address or mail server record and you're going to be ready. Additionally, you will be able to set different priority for the MX records that you create in case you want to use a third-party email provider and they ask you to create additional records aside from the two standard ones.
